Good Guilds Are Hard To Find
      Wednesday, December 26, 2007
I guess I made a little mess recently. The weekend before last I quit the Guild. If you have read the post I did on Dec. 3rd you know that I was frustrated with the (perceived) lack of support by my Guildies. On the weekend in question I acted on impulse and quit the Guild.

It was the night of my Christmas party and I had a bit too much wine for my own good. lol But what a great night! So I logged on after everyone left my house to check the AH and mail and things didn’t go well chatting with a Guildie. The combination of feeling frustrated and the wine got to me and on impulse I took Pallanen out of the Guild. Then I took Earane out too.

The next day when I logged on to play I realized that I regretted it. Instantly I wished I hadn’t been such an ass. I thought about asking one of the Officers for an invite back but I decided that what was done was done and just kept on. The next few days I felt worse about it. I really missed the Guild. Missed the Guild chats, missed the younger members (younger as in levels) asking for help and/or advice. Missed the feeling of camaraderie. Plus, I knew I had acted on a silly emotional impulse and it was embarrassing.

Then after a couple of days my friend Graz whispered to me asking if I had really quit. I told her everything and how sorry I was about it. She sent me an invite back to the Guild and I can’t tell you how much better I felt. It was like a huge weight was gone.

I have had bad luck with Guilds before Viva la Alianza. Pallanen joined when she was maybe 35ish??? I think, and it has been great. Pally was in ICW for a long time before that and it was OK. Until one evening when the Guild leader kept insisting that I get Vent. At the time I didn’t even know what Vent was. I tried to explain that too. But he/she said that if I didn’t get Vent in 24 hours there would be consequences. lol I just laughed at that. I asked repeatedly if he/she knew this was just a game. I also asked if they knew that ultimatums suck no matter where and when. It ended up with Pally leaving that Guild.

Sairalinde has had worse luck with Guilds. She is in a good one now, Illuminate Knights. But she went through several before someone from I.K. found her. It really is a good one. The other girls are being reserved about Guilds. I’m not sure what I will do with them. Jaelle is in one that has 8 members only. Some of them haven’t been on for 2 months or so. That seems right to me too since a Rogue is a loner. lol

The point of all this rambling is that a good Guild is hard to find. One that is supportive and friendly and generally fun. Pallanen has been lucky and I will not make the same mistake again. I regret making waves like I did. It was silly. It also made for some confusion this past weekend (which I will post about soon). I am never a drama queen so the whole scenario is still embarrassing to me. Besides, it is just a game after all and taking things to heart and taking them too seriously is not a good idea.

Lesson learned. If you have a great Guild like Pallanen does it is rare. Don’t screw with things. You will regret it. Enjoy them as they are. :)

      About Me

      Name: Jen
      Home: Pennsylvania, United States
About Me: I started playing WoW after my best friend bugged me to play. I soon learned that I really liked it. Now 2 years later I still play and have 20 characters. LOL I am no gaming expert. I am no WoW expert. A lot of the terms and "how to do's" elude me still. But I love to play. All you will find here are the adventures of Pallanen and her sisters. I love them all and they really kick butt. So stay tuned and maybe we can learn stuff from each other that we never knew. xoxo
