Death Of A Guild |
Tuesday, January 22, 2008 |
Sometimes things don't go so well for a good Guild. Sairalinde and Merenwen were in a Guild that was doing well. But recently the Guild Master has been absent and from the way it sounds, may not be back. The message was that he was disbanding the Guild completely and our members were referred to another Guild.
Naturally this caused major turmoil. Many members jumped ship fast. My girls didn't mainly because one of the Officers, who I considered a friend, kept telling me to stay put. She kept telling me that her and the one other high level Officer would straighten things out.
Then about 2 weeks ago I noticed she wasn't in the Guild anymore. Guild chat was going crazy talking about it. In a very heated, insulting manner. Apparently not only had she bailed out but had pretty much cleaned out the Guild bank of anything of value. Yikes! Needless to say, for days afterward that was the talk.
But I continued on with the reassurances of the one remaining Officer that things would be OK. Personally, I was fine with things. Mostly my part in the Guild was to help anyone when they needed it. I like doing that so it wasn't a big deal to me. Plus, with the diminishing ranks, it wasn't happening all that much anymore so I got more real play time. lol
Then over the weekend I noticed that the Guild chat was a lot different. Not so much going on about the game. Not too much going on but childish, stupid chatter. (Kind of like the Trade channel.) A lot of swearing and talk about smoking pot. Yada yada yada.... It was very annoying.
Now, I'm no prude. I can (and have) mixed it up with the best of them. But to me, that kind of stuff can be whispered and others don't need to be annoyed by it. Plus, there are some young people playing the game and that bugged me. Needless to say I was unimpressed.
But things aren't all hunky-dorey in Pallanen's Guild either. One of the long time, high ranking officers quit and started her own Guild. I don't know the details but I know I like her a lot. Then my friend from Pally's guild added one of her alts to the new guild. So last night when the opportunity arose, I took Sairalinde out of her crumbling Guild and joined my friend(s) in their new one. Merenwen is now without a Guild because I realized after Saira was out that it was simply a giant relief to be away from all that and took her out too.
So now Sairalinde gets to help start the new Guild. I believe there are 9 members so far. lol Just like the old days. Saira's old Guild may not make it but who knows? Stranger things have happened. I wish them well.
It is just a game after all. When you feel relief because of changing something in a game it is obvious it wasn't working for you. We don't play games for the politics nor for the feeling of hierarchy. We're not supposed to anyway. It is supposed to be fun. I think for myself (and my girls) I did the right thing. |

About Me |

About Me: I started playing WoW after my best friend bugged me to play. I soon learned that I really liked it. Now 2 years later I still play and have 20 characters. LOL I am no gaming expert. I am no WoW expert. A lot of the terms and "how to do's" elude me still. But I love to play. All you will find here are the adventures of Pallanen and her sisters. I love them all and they really kick butt. So stay tuned and maybe we can learn stuff from each other that we never knew. xoxo
