      Adventures At Deaths Door
      Monday, November 19, 2007
Last night ended with Pallanen being half way to level 70. I did a bunch of quests I had not bothered to do previously and then I tried one I thought might I not be able to do alone. As stated before, I don't group unless absolutely necessary, so naturally I have a bunch of group quests in my log. lol

Anyway, I went to this place called Deaths Door. It was the start of thelast 4 quests in a string of 8 that led me there. Just the name intrigued me so I knew I had to look at least. I followed the quest instructions and ended up going through this tunnel with these funny demon technicians in it. It was an easy trip and fighting them was fun. They made funny noises and actions that made fighting them entertaining. Pallanen could kill 3-4 of them before having to stop and eat or bandage so making it through wasn't hard at all. The other side was a different story.

On the other side I summoned the Druid as the quest said to do and he gave me this ammunition for use in the demon cannons. I needed to use their cannons to destroy the 2 portals in the canyon. That sounded easy enough until I got the first cannon firing. I expected to be attacked but these little sprite looking things started coming out of the portal and doing a kamikaze routine on the cannon. They ran up to it and exploded. That I didn't expect. I started to stand between them and chop them up but then they were exploding against me. That was the better choice so I kept it up all the while firing the cannon once it was ready. I had to stop once to bandage but managed to hold on until the cannon destroyed the portal.

Naturally once the portal was down 3 big ass monsters came after Pally. She was down to about half her life so she only managed to kill one before she was done.

I took the death opportunity to spirit fly around the area to find the second cannon. It was a long way off and there were a lot more mobs around it. I knew it would be harder. Pallanen fought her way to the cannon and cleared the area around it. But when she started firing it at the portal and the little sprite things started bouncing toward her 2 huge slobbering, three-headed dogs came and attacked her too. That was a nasty surprise. She managed to kill them both but the little sprites exploding got her. A second trip to the graveyard.

Once rezzed I took Pally around to make sure there were no extra baddies before firing the cannon again. It turns out there was one of those huge eyeball things with fangs floating close enough that when the cannon fired it called the dogs out. So Pally chopped it to bits and cleared the area again, then fired the cannon.

This time I knew what was coming so when the last shot was ready to be fired I healed Pally and fired. The portal died and then 3 baddies came to get her. But she was 100% this time and wiped them up easily. Well, maybe not easily. She did use a healing potion but killed them all.

Then when I summoned the Druid he said Pally had to kill the big red guy to finish the quest chain. The big baddie was called the Hound Master and was a 67 Elite. (Maybe 66?) Normally I would have stopped there but the Druid gave Pally something to summon 2 helpers so I figured I had nothing to lose. I killed all the baddies in the area (again!) and then summoned the tree guys. They were great! They held the Hound Masters aggro completely so Pallanen got to just chop away at him. The big bad elite turned out to be pretty wimpy and he died easily after maybe a minute. He probably is kinda tough but with three fighters attacking him it seemed easy.

Then Pallanen had to fight her way through the opposite tnnel and turn in the quest. The reward was great! 11 Gold 70 Silver and 17950 XP. Plus I chose this reward:

      Natasha's Choker
      Binds when picked up
      Neck
Equip: Improves hit rating by 10 (0.6%).
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 15 (0.7%).
Equip: Increases attack power by 50.
      Item Level 103
Disenchant value: 22 Gold 75 Silver
Vendor value: 3 Gold 98 Silver 18 Copper
      Source: Quest

It seemed like the right one since Pallanen is a DPS (Arms) speced Warrior.

All in all it turned out to be a pretty decent night for Pallanen. Hopefully tonight I can get her even closer to level 70. I will be a little late logging on so it won't be as close as I want. But there is life away from WoW. Right? ;)

      Pallanen Is Level 69!
      Sunday, November 18, 2007
Pallanen made it to level 69 last night. I was so psyched about it. Just one more until 70. She made it ahead of our recent weekly leveling schedule. lol I'm not sure why it was early either because I haven't played every day this week. But it really doesn't matter, she is one level away now.

Pally leveled in Nagrand. I sorta like it there. One of my guild friends says she loves questing there. I see why. I'm still not real clear on all the hub-bub surrounding Halaa. That place should be crushed by now as much as the Alliance and Hordes keep fighting over it. There has to be more to it than I know but as I have tried to make clear here in the early going, I'm no expert gamer. If someone has some insight please feel free to let me know. (Assuming someone other than myself sees this blog. lol)

I did something I said I would never do outside my guild last night. I grouped with some players to kill Durn the Hungerer. I saw that someone was asking for help and I needed to do the quest so I answered. I also need some practice tanking so I went and helped against my better judgement. It went about the way I expected.

We went after Durn with just Pally, a Paladin, a Warlock and another character (that I can't remember right now :P). Only one level 70 among us. I had reservations about going into this with a Paladin as healer. The first time we caught him we had him down to maybe half his life when our healer seemed to forget I existed. I held the aggro pretty well so when the healer was on his toes we did OK. Once my health became an issue and I saw the others screaming for healing I knew we were in trouble. I tried to disengage to heal up but that darn Durn followed me around and stomped me into the ground. As I was traveling back to rejoin the fight I saw that everyone else got it one by one. lol

The second round went much better. The Warlock had his Voidwalker tanking so Pallanen was able to go into the fight dual wielding (which she prefers being a DPS Warrior). The VW and I held all the aggro but the healer left me alone again. We had old Durn down to 1/3 life when he stomped Pally into oblivion again. On the way back I saw the group was still hanging on so when I rezzed and popped a healing potion, I charged into him and used my Thunder Clap to get his attention. That took the pressure off the others and suddenly old Durn was dead. I had rejoined just in time for him to die. Very cool. :)

Then the group disbanded. Without a goodbye, thanks, kiss my ass, nothing. They all just disappeared. Typical. Someday soon I'll do a post about my grouping experiences. It will make it obvious as to why I never group anymore. But this time at least I wasn't left standing in a bad situation.

So I turned in all my quests after the Durn battle and was just a tiny little bit from leveling. So I went out and kept killing the cute little goat things in the fields until I made it. I felt a little guilty about that but it did the trick.

Today I plan on getting as much xp toward level 70 as possible. Sundays are the easiest time for me to waste hours playing. I hope to get a long way.

Maybe tomorrow I will finally figure out how to make those darn pics on the sidebar all nice and uniform. Only 2 of them pop up to full size. They are supposed to all do that. I still have a few things to learn about the blog template. LOL

      Templates And Graveyards
      Thursday, November 15, 2007
I have been lax in writing here. The template changing is coming along very slowly. I managed to figure out how to add pictures and even links. That made me happy. I just can't figure out how to do the header. It's making me crazy! lol

Pallanen became level 68 on Monday. I thought it was funny in a way since she became level 67 the previous Monday. She was hanging around the Blackwing Coven, killing those annoying casters when she leveled. Good thing she did too. Her health was really low and she was trying to kill 3 bad guys all level 67-68 when one died and her health regenerated thanks to leveling. That saved her a trip to the graveyard. Then she managed to wipe up the remaining two and sit and munch a few grapes she got in Shat. to feel better. :P

I hate the graveyard trips. One of my game friends said recently that it was no biggie to her. "It's just toon death" she said. But she is a Mage and I thing Mages have a tendency to visit the graveyard more than Warriors. To me, if Pally ends up in the graveyard, I have screwed up the quest. It annoys me and it makes it harder on her. Warriors have to get in the fight, kill everything and get out again. The killing part is much slower than a lot of other classes (maybe all the others for all I know) so the ads tend to spawn and come back at her if she is too slow to complete the quest. Then she is in trouble. Especially from a caster. So having to make the trip from the grave back to where she can start over is a bad thing.

I am proud to say that dying in the Outlands is not very often for Pallanen. I was warned by guildies that I should "be prepared to die a lot" when I went for the first time. But that just isn't happening. I think Pally is just too tough for the scaries there. LOL

So what was I saying at the start of this? Hmmm..... oh yeah, I need to write about the game more often than I have been. But I get distracted easily by trying to fix the stupid template. (I get distracted easily all the time. Look at all the caharcters I have. lol) If anyone actually reads this and can help please let me know. I would appreciate it. But I am sure I will figure it out eventually.

I sort of feel bad sometimes for my 'little girls'. They rarely get to play anymore. My plan is to get Pallanen to 70 and then get Sairalinde to 50. Then I'll get the other girls to 40 (for their mounts). But most of my time will be with Pally since she is learning to Tank. The guild needs a good tank for raiding and instances and all that. As long as Pallanen's health bar is blue I will play her.

Thsi post is not the most interesting thing I've ever written. lol But at least I have finally posted something. :P

      Jen the WoW-aholic
      Tuesday, November 6, 2007
      Hi, I'm Jen and I am a WoW-aholic.

OK, maybe not so much. If there are WoW-aholics I am probably pretty close to it. I have been playing for almost a year now and there seems to be no end in sight. I was coerced into trying it by my best friend. I tried it after 2 months of her bugging me and now, almost a year later, I am still playing.

I just started this blog a few minutes ago. It will undergo many changes until I get it right, I'm sure. I am not computer literate. Not like a lot of people are anyway. But I started this to document my girls' adventures in Azeroth.

I am no gaming expert by any stretch of the imagination. You will not find expert tips aboiut World of Warcraft here. You won't even find a lot of intelligent stuff most likely. This will be simply a place where my game experiences will be documented. Anything I learn while playing that helps someone else is a bonus. Anything anyone else helps me to learn is a bigger bonus. :)

Excuse me now while I do some template adjustments. I will return with an update on my girls soon.

      About Me

      Name: Jen
      Home: Pennsylvania, United States
About Me: I started playing WoW after my best friend bugged me to play. I soon learned that I really liked it. Now 2 years later I still play and have 20 characters. LOL I am no gaming expert. I am no WoW expert. A lot of the terms and "how to do's" elude me still. But I love to play. All you will find here are the adventures of Pallanen and her sisters. I love them all and they really kick butt. So stay tuned and maybe we can learn stuff from each other that we never knew. xoxo
