I Thought I'd Post Some New Pics Today
      Wednesday, January 28, 2009
I was looking back through my screenshots and decided I wanted to post some pics here (again :P). One thing I realized was that I don't do enough action shots. But of course, when the action is happening, who thinks about screenshots anyway? lol

Here is an action shot of Merenwen killing Pirates in Stranglethorn. I like this one.

This isn't really an action shot but it is a nice shot of Jaelle hearthing back home after adventuring in Arathi. Jaelle is one of my favorites and sometimes I am sad that I don't give her more time.

Here is a glamour shot of Granuaile. lol I still think she is my prettiest girl.

This is Granuaile killing a giant spider in Arathi. She is very pretty, but don't piss her off. She is a also deadly killer. :P

These next 2 shots are interesting ones. They are of Pallanen killing a rock elemental in the Badlands. The elemental exploded and sort of floated for a while. I think there was a serious glitch that day but it made for a cool set of pics.

Of course, having a level 70 Warrior busting a 40ish elemental is a recipe for a big explosion, right? lol Pally was mining Iron and Mithril for one of her sisters at the time.

This is just an up to date shot of Ki'Leana at level 80. Nothing special.

.... and this is a current shot of Pallanen in the Grizzly Hills, level 78.5. Notice the two two-handed swords she is carrying? When she does her Whirlwind with those, any mobs she is fighting instantly loses 1/2 its health. It's pretty fun. :)

I didn't feel like detailing my recent adventures today. Let's just say that Pally has been very busy working it in Zul Drak. She has finished all the quests at the Ebon Watch place and the first Argent Crusaders guys place. She was 77 at the start and is now half way to 79.

Questing in Zul Drak is so much easier with Pallanen since she can fly. She is my most accomplished girl and had her cold weather flying immediately at level 77. I did all the same quests with Ki'Leana but they were harder since she didn't have her flying at the time. There is a huge difference.

I think it's fun to take screen shots so I will try and get some really cool ones to post. Action ones are the best but of course, I don't want my girls getting killed just to get a pic. :P That would be silly. But we all must suffer for our art, right? LOL

      Are Shaman Cool To Play?
      Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Question of the Day: Are Shaman fun? If anyone ever stops by here and would be so kind as to let me know their view on this subject, I'd appreciate it. Here is why I ask.....

I made a Dranei Shaman. Thats all. hee hee

The reason I made one is two-fold. First, I need a Jewelcrafter. I had one but I deleted her. If you read back a few months you will find where I got very frustrated playing my Warlock and deleted her. Now I sort of regret it. She was level 26 and her Jewelcrafting was at level 225. I kind of wish I hadn't deleted her but..... what's done is done.

So recently I made a Dranei Shaman. It seemed fitting to make a Dranei since they get a +5 for Jewelcrafting. Plus I never tried a Shaman so I thought it would be neat. I also never did any quests in the Dranei area so it seemed like doing some brand new quests would also be neat. So far I have mixed feelings.

The Dranei Shaman I made is called Erenrai. Eren'rai (the correct spelling) is a word from the Elvish language meaning daughter of the King. No, she isn't an elf but as you can tell, I love the Elevn language. She is now level 11. I have a few minor issues with her so far.

      First the superficial.

She is pretty. But I kind of don't like those feet. Hooves. They bug me a bit. Ugly. Very ugly for such a pretty girl. I also don't care for the tail wagging around when she runs. Otherwise I think she is a pretty girl. I love the noises she makes when fighting too. They are cool. Also, her accent is kind of sexy too.

      Now the other stuff.

The quests so far are interesting. I was hoping the Dranei area wouldn't be like the original game where you spend a lot of time running to the quests and back again, but that has proven to be wrong. The Dranei starting area(s) are the same as all the other ones I've played. Run a mile to do a quest, run a mile back.... yada yada yada....

The talents she has are kind of hard to figure out. She has 4 totems now but apparently I can't use more than one at a time. Having fought beside high level Shaman many times I sort of expected to be able to use multiple totems. I suppose that will come eventually.

She does some nice hand-to-hand fighting at her level. I took her to every Weapon Master to train for everything she is allowed. (Apparently she can't use swords.) That will be OK since I can't seem to get away from having all my characters use swords and daggers. I think I'll try Axes and Maces with Erenrai. Right now she has been using a Mace and shield exclusively. Since she has such nice big sisters, she can pretty much choose anything to play with so anything goes for her. :)

Her Jewelcrafting is above 100 now. (The Armory is down atm so I can't check for sure.) Her Mining is higher. Into the Silver range. One thing I have done differently with Erenrai compared to all my other girls is to train her in Cooking. I don't know why I did. I just decided to try it out. She is above 80 in Cooking so far.

Basically having played her to this point, I am still not sure if I will keep her. I am lukewarm about her future. I like the new quests. I like knowing how powerful she will be at higher levels. But so far I am not enamored with her. I plan on giving it more time but at this point, unless something really cool comes of having her, I may not keep her. Then will come the issue of what character I need to make to be my Jewleler. So any advice on the Class would be appreciated.

At any rate, if I decide not to keep her at least I have a nice name picked out and reserved. lol

      Back To Kul Tiras
      Tuesday, January 20, 2009
I have been playing with Pallanen almost exclusively for a week now. It's been fun. When I play my Warrior Girl I feel like I am home again. Like it's the natural place for me to be. I play Pally and then send stuff to her sisters and play them a bit and everything seems right with the world.

I send stuff to Merenwen and Jaelle and then I remember what the plans for them had been, pre-Ki'Leana and the Aerie Peak Guild. I need to get them both to 50 asap so they can keep leveling their professions. I also like working on Sairalinde's leveling. Pally will make it to 80 soon so I need to decide what course of action to go after that.

Sometimes I feel like I have wasted 6 months (or so) of game time on the other realm(s). (I say realm(s) since we started on Aerie Peak and moved to Dawnbringer.) I like Ki'Leana a lot but I do not care for the Guildies there much. I also don't like how crowded the server is. There is always a long wait to log on. I am considering moving Ki'Leana to Kul Tiras and maybe Analalai too. The others I don't care much about. That would put all the fun girls in the same place. The one drawback is that I like Earlinde too. I won't delete her.

      *sigh decisions decisions lol

This experience has taught me this; I would advise people not to make more characters on other realms until you are satisfied with the levels of the ones you already have. It is a bit confusing.

So for the near future, Pallanen is my focus. She is still the most fun character I have. Merenwen has to get to 50 so she can level her Tailoring and Enchanting above 300. Jaelle is in the same situation, needing to be 50. Plus, I really want a high level Rogue. I think they are really fun to play.

My return to Dawnbringer and Raids will be delayed. I can have Ki'Leana Raid on Kul Tiras a lot since I have many friends there so if I move her it wouldn't be bad. I'd feel bad since the Guild Ki'Leana is in really wants her help but if they wouldn't be such a pain about it..........

So once again, I am at a crossroads. I should count how many times this has occurred to me since making Ki'Leana on the other server. It is apparent that I shouldn't have done that. But whatever. It's just a game and it will all work itself out eventually. As long as it's still fun I obviously don't have any real worries. :P

      Lame Blog?
      Thursday, January 15, 2009
I wonder what makes a good World of Warcraft Blog? Is it the interesting writing? Is it the game details in the posts? Is it the stylish look? Is it all of the above? I'm not sure.

I have been looking through the internet for WoW bloggers (mostly because my blog is lonely) and have found a lot of variety. There are the kind who give you very specific details on Raids. Some are Class specific. Some really know the Lore of Azeroth and what is suppposed to be happening as the game progresses. Some are just like mine, a documentary of personal game experiences with (truthfully) very little game expertise.

I don't have a lot of the serious gamers' expertise. I write here just for fun. I write about what I experience and that's about it. I really am amazed at the level that some people can get into World of Warcraft. Some players just seem to know where and how are the best ways to gear their characters. They seem to understand what it takes to make the most out of their grinding time. I don't really have a clue about that stuff.

For example, it still is a mystery to me how to know what faction/group I need to be exalted with to get whatever special rewards they offer for my girls. I don't even get it when a Guildie tells me I need to grind rep with so-and-so to get something I need. Not that I don't get what they are saying. I understand the gist of what they are saying but I usually don't have a clue as to how to go about doing what they say.

Take for instance the guy here at work who keeps telling me I need to get the Tabard from the Ebon Blade and run instances to get rep for them. That doing that will help Pallanen (my Warrior) in the long run. I get that, but I still don't have a clue as to where the Ebon Blade is yet let alone how to grind rep with them. My Death Knights have some experience with them (obviously) but still, where does one go to find them and work on that? Plus, how does one know that kind of detail in the first place?

So (back to the point) this blog isn't one of those where big game secrets are exposed. Well, maybe they aren't "big game secrets" per se, they are the things real gamers learn to make their characters uber-geared I guess. But I'm not made that way. I'm just not that bothered by getting uber-geared and I don't feel the big need for getting there. So maybe thats why no one visits here regularly. Maybe because I just blog about general stuff and don't get into all the nitty-gritty details about how Raids and stuff like that should go. I dunno. lol

None of this matters anyway. This is just a place to chronicle my girls exploits. I like looking back to see where the girls have been. It's fun. I wish I had done a blog from the beginning. The game is so different since I first started playing it. Back when I first started playing WoW, I didn't even think I'd be playing it long but here I am, one of the 'old-timers' now. Pallanen (my oldest girl :P) was born pre-BC. It took a lot to learn how to level back when Pally was young. I knew nothing about the game at all. I had no clue about gear or what Thottbot was or how to use Pallanen's talents properly. The poor girl died a lot unnecessarily in the beginning.

Now when I level a new character I have a nice understanding of what to do. They rarely end up in really bad situations. But back then, poor Pally had a hard time.

*minor aside.... Maybe I should do some flashback types of posts to document those days. Before my memory of them is totally gone forever. The game was much tougher back then. Better too, I think. Those posts would be fun to do. "Hey, good idea Jen!" lol

At any rate, the original idea for this post was to marvel at the amazing variety of blog styles. But that's just not a surprise since the game of World of Warcraft is capable of amazing variety itself. Someday, if I keep at it, I may be one of the experts.

      Maybe.

      Could happen.

Yah, I doubt that too. LOL

      New Year, New Game
      Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Ki'Leana brought in the New Year at level 80. She leveled doing quests in the newest Hemet Nesingwary area of Sholazar Basin in Northrend. (That Nesingwary guy sure gets around!) It was Saturday the 3rd when she actually leveled but I was off on a long weekend so I considered it bringing in the New Year. lol

Since then the game has a new feel. It's always that way when you hit the highest level. One thing I am missing though is the flying mount. So since leveling I have been grinding mats for sale because Ki'Leana still doesn't have near enough gold for a flying mount. It's been a pain but for some reason I never paid enough attention to her money level. Had I not disenchanted all the drops and quest rewards, I would have the flying mount already. But until she was 78 I didn't start taking it seriously. Oh well. It will come eventually.

I have also been researching Healers Specs so I can respec for raids. I need to respec Holy and I have been putting it off.

The funny thing about Raids so far is that Ki hasn't done any. After all the hub-bub the Guild was raising, bugging me to get her to 80, Raids haven't been regular. I did notice last night that 2 new Raids have been scheduled this week so maybe the Holiday break was the issue. At any rate, we are doing a 25 man Naxx run this Friday evening and I need to respec before that. Wish us luck. :)

This is the talent build I plan on trying for Ki'Leana's first attempt at healing a Raid. I found it via Tentonhammer.com. It seems to me to be a good one for Raids and other groups. I really don't look forward to questing again after the respec but whatever.....

There was a discussion over the weekend between myself and some Guild Officers that maybe they wanted Ki'Leana to stay Shadow for Raids. I kind of liked that idea and it may be Ok eventually. But we recently lost 2 of the main Healers for the Guild so for now, Ki needs to be Holy.

Otherwise, I have also been having some fun with Pallanen lately. I got burned out questing so I decided to try and get Baron Rivendares Mount in Stratholme. Pally has been running thru Strat alsmost every night now for about 10 days. It is just for fun but she gets a lot of valuable drops. Lots of blues that sell for a few gold a piece so she is actually making money while killing things.

I read that the Mount is a very rare drop. Something like 0.2% drop rate (according to Thottbot). Other places say the drop rate is even worse. I even read that one guy ran Strat 143 times and gave up without ever getting the mount. But I also read that someone got it the first try. No matter. Pallanen is having fun, getting a ton of Runecloth for Merenwen, and generally doing what she does best. That is, killing everything that comes at her and then laughing at them. lol

After the 3rd day of running Stratholme I finally realized that I should be working on Pallanens rep with the Argent Dawn. Why not? She was doing all those runs. Might as well make it more worth her while. So I got the Argent Dawn trinket that allows for collection of Scourgestones and that stuff and I also accepted some of the low level Stratholme quests I had never done. Doing all that, it won't be long before Pally is exalted with that faction, which should help her achievement list.

One thing I did manage to do that felt really good was kill the Crusade's Courier. The one who rides the roads in the Eastern Plaguelenad with a group of 4 (or 5?) other elites. If you have been on the roads in the Eastern Plaguelands and have run into that group of elites with that Courier, you know what I'm talking about. They seem to pop up and kill you when you least expect it.

I was returning to Light's Hope Chapel after a run one night and saw that group on the road ahead. Memories of times when Pallanen was just a youngster doing quests in EPL flashed through my mind. Several times she was minding her own business when those elites jumped her and wiped her out. So when I saw them I knew they couldn't be allowed to live. lol I dismounted close to them, ran up on that group, built up Pallanen's Rage and charged into them. Within a few seconds all those nasty Crusaders were dead on the road. Pallanen enjoyed that bit of revenge. That was fun. lol

Silly, yes. But fun. We've discussed my penchant before (in earlier posts here) for getting revenge on the monsters who hurt my girls in the game. This was just another "feel good" vengeful moment. hee hee

So the game is changing for my girls again. Ki'Leana is 80 and starting full out Raiding. Pallanen will be on her way to 80 asap. Depends on when I get tired of running Stratholme. (Or if I get the mount soon.) Friday night should be interesting. Ki healing a 25 man Raid is like jumping into the fire right away. Hopefully it will go OK. I will try to detail Ki'Leanas first big raid over the weekend. Hopefully it will go well.

      About Me

      Name: Jen
      Home: Pennsylvania, United States
About Me: I started playing WoW after my best friend bugged me to play. I soon learned that I really liked it. Now 2 years later I still play and have 20 characters. LOL I am no gaming expert. I am no WoW expert. A lot of the terms and "how to do's" elude me still. But I love to play. All you will find here are the adventures of Pallanen and her sisters. I love them all and they really kick butt. So stay tuned and maybe we can learn stuff from each other that we never knew. xoxo
